Therapy for Chronic Illness in MN

Reconnect to yourself.

Chronic Illness impacts the physical, emotional and spiritual realms of being.

Chronic illness impacts mental health in so many ways. You grieve the loss of your abilities and in some cases the life you always thought you’d have. Flares of symptoms can cause isolation from family and friends. People don’t understand the depths to which you pull your strength from to just get through day to day.

I work with people who have new diagnosis, or have been living with their condition for a long time, as well as caregivers for those who have chronic illness.

You’re tired of feeling…

  • Like no one understands

  • Like your pain and symptoms control you

  • Like you’ve lost your identity

how i can help

Therapy for chronic illness is about addressing the holistic impact it has on your life

Because having an illness is multi-faceted, I use an approach that allows for someone to acknowledge all the areas the illness has impacted. Grief and loss are often felt along with having physical symptoms, existential questions like “why me?” filter in and out, and depression and anxiety develop. I am here to listen to your story and help you change the narrative.

Therapy can help support and manage the psychological impact of pain and symptoms for people with chronic illness. I use clinical hypnosis as a tool to help with symptom management, as well as a way to help develop new insights. I believe that the mind has a lot of power in our symptoms (not to say this is “all in you head” ) and holds many keys for us to use for management, hope and healing.

I get the most excitement when I can help someone really find the selves they have lost or the selves they want to be even while facing an illness.

Caregivers are also deserving of support, patience and tools to help themselves relax from stress, find ways to manage their own symptoms and become more balanced carers.

I hope we can create a story together that feels more like one you’d hope for. I also hope that we can have some fun together and can incorporate your hobbies, interests or humor in session.
